Dr Fred P. Okangi is serving as UDASA Treasurer for 2022-224 leadership. He is a Lecturer, Consultant, and Researcher in the Department of Marketing, University of Dar es Salaam Business School. He has vast experience and skills in teaching, training, and consultancy in the field of marketing, entrepreneurship and SMEs development, international trade, agri-business, policy development and advocacy, foreign direct investments, real estate investments, business management, and business environment across sectors. His research interests include marketing, entrepreneurship and SMEs development, public-private dialogue through policy development and advocacy, business environment, international trade, and agri-business. He has over 10 years’ experience in research and capacity building projects through lecturing, supervision, and mentoring of both undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Dr Okangi has also trained and developed capacity of more than 300 SMEs owners in Tanzania on issues related to the business establishment, marketing, management, compliance, growth, and business planning. Currently, Dr. Okangi is the Assistant Coordinator of the Centre for Policy Research and Advocacy (CPRA), the Centre which is responsible for coordination of research and consultancy on the growing demand for policy research, critical analysis and knowledge management for the promotion of dialogue and advocacy process in strengthening Tanzania’s business environment. He is also an associate of the University of Dar es Salaam Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centre (UDIEC), where he has been engaged as a trainer, mentor, and coach since 2009. Through UDIEC, Dr. Okangi is working with the management in training and provision of mentorship and coaching services to trainees and incubatees on issues related to business development, entrepreneurship, innovation, marketing, growth and sustainability. His publications appear in the Journal of Global Entrepreneurship Research (JGER) and Business Management Review (BMR).
