Dr Matogwa is a Lecturer in Sociology at the Department of Sociology and Anthropology, University of Dar es salaam. He has a PhD in Sociology, an MA in Sociology, and a BA in Sociology, all from the University of Dar es Salaam.

Dr Matonga is a sociologist specializing in sociological theories, sociology of knowledge, qualitative researching, community development, urban sociology and industrial sociology. So far, he has accumulated extensive knowledge through working with various institutions and organizations in social research and community projects such as East Africa Crude Oil Pipeline project (EACOP), social impact assessment (JSB, PFP) health services evaluations (AMREF, PSI Tanzania) Social protection (TASAF), and numerous baseline surveys.

Currently, Dr Matogwa is teaching undergraduate courses in urban and industrial sociology.
