Dr John is a lecturer and researcher in Language Pedagogy and Teacher Education at Mkwawa University College of Education (MUCE), a college he represents in the UDASA Executive Committee. He holds a BA with Education, an MA in Linguistics and a PhD in Language Pedagogy from the University of Dar es Salaam.

Dr John’s research interest lies in Qualitative and mixed research approaches, Language Teaching, Early Childhood Education and Literacy Learning, Language Curriculum Development and Design, and Language Teacher Education. John has attended and presented research articles at several international academic conferences and has published several articles in peer-reviewed journals, and one chapter in an edited Book in areas of Language teaching and Literacy learning, Language curriculum design, Multilingualism, and English Language Skills.

Dr John has been either engaged or co-commissioned to carry out projects related to teaching and learning assessment, literacy development in childhood education, teacher professional development, baseline and end-line surveys with institutions such as TEN/MET, LANES/GPE, TWAWEZA, EQUIP-TELT, UDSM and MUCE in particular. He is currently implementing a one-year research project on: Enhancement of Communicative Language Approach among Primary School Teachers in Teaching English Subject in Tanzania: A Case of Iringa.

On leadership, DR John is a UDSA-MUCE Chairperson from July 2020 and before that, he served as UDASA-MUCE General Secretary from 2014 through 2015.
