Dr Justo has a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Dongguk University in Seoul, South Korea and an MSc and BSc in Electrical Engineering from the University of Dar es Salaam. Between 2016 and 2018, he was a visiting scholar at the Department of Electrical, Electronics and Computer Engineering at the University of Pretoria in South Africa where he extensively researched Smart grid, grid integration of renewable energy resources. Prior to that, he was with the Division of Electronics and Electrical Engineering at Dongguk University in Seoul, South Korea where he researched on Electrical Machine and Drives for Electric Vehicle Applications, Modelling and Control of Distributed Energy Resources to meet grid code requirements.
Dr Justo's current research interests are on Intelligent control systems with fuzzy, neural Networks, adaptive systems and model predictive control for integrated energy systems, design and rapid prototyping of power converter control for modern power systems and electrical machine and drives, grid-code requirements, energy efficiency and management, electrification of the transport sector and drives for industrial automation.
Dr Justo teaches undergraduate courses on Electrical Network Analysis, Variable Speed Drives, Integrated Energy Systems and postgraduate courses on control of Linear and nonlinear systems, advanced control systems, Design of Electrical Machines and Drives.
